Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the blueprint for the rebuild of Christchurch’s CBD, PlaceMakers has announced it’s to open a brand new store in Hornby.
The 2745 sq m greenfields store, which will be designed and purpose-built for PlaceMakers, will be located at Glassworks Industry Park in Hornby.
It will feature an extensive trade store, drive-through warehouse and yard, and is scheduled to open in May next year.
PlaceMakers Hornby will work alongside existing PlaceMakers Christchurch stores, located in Antigua Street, Cranford Street and Riccarton to supply materials to the building trade across the whole of Canterbury.
PlaceMakers chief executive John Beveridge says it’s an exciting time of growth for the business.
“This new store reaffirms our absolute commitment to — and confidence in — Christchurch and its rebuild. With the recent release of the CBD blueprint, momentum is gathering pace, and
PlaceMakers is now well positioned to respond.
“It is essential that the rebuild is executed as quickly and efficiently as possible. We’ve got stores at convenient locations across the city now, meaning product will be available where and when builders need it.”
Mr Beveridge said the new store marks the beginning of exciting plans PlaceMakers has for the region.
Current PlaceMakers Riccarton trade manager Steve Brown will operate the Hornby store when it opens next year.
PlaceMakers signed an initial nine-year lease with Goodman Property Trust, the owner and developer of the purpose-built facility.
