Mega, the only large-scale trade event of its kind this year, has had to be put on hold due to Greater Auckland being put into Alert Level 3 lockdown on the day the event was due to start — August 12.

Mega combined three shows into one, bringing together the 30-year strong BuildNZ, with Facilities Integrate and the National Safety Show at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on August 12 and 13.

Organisers of the event, XPO Exhibitions, issued the following statement.

Dear visitor,

It is with regret that we must announce BuildNZ, Facilities Integrate and The National Safety Show are unable to run as scheduled Wednesday and Thursday this week due to the overnight national emergency announcement and declaration from the Prime Minister.

As organisers we have worked tirelessly and invested heavily over past months to deliver a show that is vital for the economic recovery of the sector. With a beautiful show all built and ready for 6500+ registered visitors, this is particularly difficult too for our 180+ exhibitors who have put in so much effort to showcase their innovative products, services and technology. Added to the above are the 40+ seminar speakers.

We’re equally mindful of the effort that out-of-town industry visitors have made travelling to Auckland in anticipation of visiting the show.

That said, we remain cautiously optimistic that we will bring you a recommencement date for these shows in future communications that will follow in the weeks to come.

In the meantime stay safe.
